Just an illusion

Where to start…

I met Rich the first night my wife Justine introduced me to all of her friends at her 40th birthday party. A slightly intimidating experience so I took my camera as an excuse to get to know everyone. I gravitated immediately to Rich’s smiling face behind the decks and we got talking in between tracks.

Rich, right from the start revealed all his wonderful qualities - welcoming, friendly, open & kind.

So started Rich DJing all the key romantic moments in my life - our engagement party, our wedding in Ibiza (what a night that was ; >) all the significant birthdays and the infamous Streete Court party.

His passion for creating a joyous vibe with his music inspired me to give it a go a few years back. Since then it has been an honour to get his tips on mixing and for him sharing his music collection with me.

2020 was the year of my 40th and Rich was of course top of the bill to play my party in Ibiza that never happened. With Lockdown having started a few weeks earlier we planned a livestreamed affair and Rich as always put his soul and love into a fabulous set. I feel blessed to have a recording of it to share. Aside from the vibe, I always loved the little moments of phasing effect that Rich would spin in… ; >

Choosing one song has been near on impossible, but I’ve picked Just an Illusion which Rich introduced me to when teaching me how to get a party going - starting to build up the energy to fill up the dancefloor for a night to remember.
