Rich loved to bring people happiness and joy through music.
He wanted to create a 'Desert Island Discs' of songs that were meaningful to his family & friends to tell the stories of his life.
La Vie en Rose
Hi Richard, in Heaven. This came up on my YouTube. I think that was the day we cemented our friendship that we loved Island Life her classic album. Bit of Grace Jones for you x
It’s Alright, I Feel It!
25 years ago Angela and I met these two cheeky boys on our way to Ibiza and so began a friendship cemented by a love of great music.
The tears of a clown
He shared my huge love of all things Motown! So this ones for you Mr Fosbury, watching me doing my Northern Soul shuffle around the kitchen :) xxx
To Be In Love
This track from summer 99 is so full of joy, so it feels right to choose as a tribute to a human who spilled over with joy and warmth and soul. It’s the sound of London sunshine, good times, laughter - when I hear it I can see him behind the decks, with that beautiful smile.
That’s the Way Love Is
I remember us hearing it a few years later as we drove down to that legendary Big Chill Festival in 2003 , windows down , playing it loud.
Don’t worry be happy
I have chosen this song because It reminds me of Rich he always had a smile on his face.
Lola’s theme
It was the first dance at our wedding that Lee Dagger was supposed to play but he played the 12 inch instrumental version by mistake and we were dancing around waiting ages for the vocal to start…
You’ll never walk alone
We share many memories together from our boys primary school days to our moonshot family time, you always showed great support to both our sons and gave great encouragement.
Uh-Uh Ooh-Ooh, Look Out
It does make me chuckle to think; what does a Northern tyke like myself, have in common with a cool, well-educated, and well-read fella like Rich... Well, a love and passion of music.
For the good times
The morning that I heard the very sad news, i had the radio on in the background and this was the song that came on, the opening line is exactly what i could hear him say to me as i cried ..... always a kind word and so thoughtful....
Rock the Casbah
Rich was DJ-ing. I was flagging a bit and took a breather but then the intro of this track came on and I had to dance, kicking my shoes off and pogo-ing round the dance floor like a mad thing. I remember looking over at Rich and he just looked totally in his element and so happy.
The Rising Cost Of Love
He used to DJ upstairs for me at a night I used to run at the 'Book Club' in Shoreditch , London, and I can remember on one occasion when I did my 'check that Rich is OK upstairs' run I was met with that beaming smile and a disco track that I was completely unaware of.
Rolling Moon
Reminds me of going to see The Chills with Rich and a few other friends when we were in our late teens. Up to London for a night out - the band was great! And then a most memorable journey home when the car broke down.
Just an illusion
So started Rich DJing all the key romantic moments in my life - our engagement party, our wedding in Ibiza (what a night that was ; >) all the significant birthdays and the infamous Streete Court party.
Everyone Thinks He Looks Daft
It takes me back to a Wedding Present gig we went to see in a small, grotty club venue somewhere in London, late 1985 I reckon. At 17, Foz had only recently passed his driving test and the two of us ventured up to the Smoke in his brown Morris Marina (?), resplendent in our indie-anoraks and desert boots.
Eminence Front
We talked about the sort of music he used to play in the beginning and it was wild and varied, but for one song he mentioned to me stood out, and this song was Eminence Front by the Who.
Song for whoever
The Beautiful South first two albums. I was playing them a lot when in Oxford and I do not know why but songs of these albums always remind me of Foz.
