Uh-Uh Ooh-Ooh, Look Out
After the announcement of the very sad news last weekend, I was messaging with a mutual friend ‘Kells’, and as she put it, ‘...he was an amazing guy’.
And that’s just it, Rich really was!!!
In reflection, it does make me chuckle to think; what does a Northern tyke like myself, have in common with a cool, well-educated, and well-read fella like Rich...
Well, a love and passion of music.
Since meeting Rich, some circa 18 years ago, at a private party in Surrey, we maintained a friendship cemented for our mutual love of music. I used to really look forward to receiving his mix CD’s in the post, and more recently, tuning-in to his mini-mixes, broadcast on a Sunday lunchtime.
What a guy, and what a talent!
The piece of music that I hold dearly in terms of our friendship is the Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley reworking of the track; Roberta Flack - ‘Uh-Uh Ooh-Ooh, Look Out’ (Here it comes...)
Now this was a massive Northern club track circa 90-91, and for some reason it had escaped Rich’s radar. I’d included the track on a mix that I’d sent to Rich circa 2005, and it had caught his attention.
After chatting about it over the phone one evening, I then went ahead and surprised him by sending him a copy on vinyl.
